Moving into a care home doesn't mean life stops — it means life changes. At Cherry Tree, residents choose how they spend their days. Some join every activity; others prefer quieter time in the gardens. Both are equally welcome. We are proud of our varied activities programme which is integral to our home. In addition to the sample timetable below, every week we have a variety of external activities in the home such as therapy ponies, travelling theatre productions and a visiting petting zoo to name a few

Weekly Activities Calendar
Our weekly programme offers something for everyone. Activities adapt with the seasons and residents' interests.
Intergenerational Projects
Children and older adults have more in common than people assume. At Cherry Tree, we host regular visits from local schools, where young people read with residents, share artwork, and learn from each other. These sessions are highlights of our calendar.
We also welcome youth groups and college students completing care-related qualifications. Residents often say these visits bring the most energy to the home — and the young people tell us they learn more here than from textbooks.
If you're a teacher, youth leader, or parent interested in bringing your group to Cherry Tree, we'd love to hear from you. These connections benefit everyone involved.

“I’ve worked in restaurants, hospitals, and care homes. Here at Cherry Tree, I have the freedom to cook real food—not just reheat it. When residents finish their plates and ask what’s for tomorrow, that’s the best feedback.”
Our Nutrition Philosophy
Good food matters more as we age—but so does enjoyment. Our approach balances nutrition with pleasure. We accommodate dietary requirements and personal preferences, working with families to understand what residents love and what they’ve always avoided. If someone’s appetite is poor, we don’t lecture—we adapt.
Smaller portions, favourite treats, flexible timing. Mealtimes should be something to look forward to, not endure. We also encourage families to join residents for meals whenever possible. Sharing food together maintains connection and reminds everyone that this is still home.
